Packing over 30 years of hiking boot greatness, these Danner boots are the classic leather walking boot that set the standard for all boots since. As seen in the the 2014 film WILD, based on the New York Times best-selling book by author Cheryl Strayed.
Every pair of the Mountain Light is still built by hand in their Portland, Oregon factory - made from hard wearing full-grain leather, on top of Vibram Kletterlift outsoles and with a comfortable Dri-Lex liner. The result of this craft is a classic design that provides unmatched comfort and support for walking of all levels.
Danner put their leather though a full range of tests to ensure that their full-grains are the strongest and most durable leathers for their boots. The one-piece design of the leather upper eliminates any opening in the tongue area to keep debris and water out, and also creates the classic hiking boot shape and finish with minimal seams. For additional comfort, the Dri-Lex liner provides excellent vapour transport, making them very quick drying, resistant to mildew, breathable and perfect for use in warmer conditions.
On the under side, the Vibram Kletterlift outsole is designed for comfort and durability - the heel provides shock absorption, with a rubber compound that guarantees great traction and stability in all conditions. Connecting everything, Danner’s legendary stitchdown construction allows for a wider platform and offers increased stability underfoot.
|This women’s specific fit is based on Danner’s popular 650 style, offering the most universal fit for everyday wear. With ample room through the toe box without compromising on support or stability. You may find you need to size down by a half a size for the best fit. We’d recommend contacting us and coming in store to try them out.|

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Charles Danner opened the doors of Danner Shoe Mfg. Company in the old logging town of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, with twelve employees to build affordable, handcrafted work boots. In the 1960’s they recognised the cultural shift towards activities in the outdoors like hiking, backpacking and mountain climbing becoming America’s only domestic manufacturer of walking boots.
Building on nearly a century of traditions and high standards of quality originally instilled by their founder, Danner continue to design and manufacture a complete line of hiking, hunting, uniform, work and lifestyle boots in their world-class factory in Portland, Oregon, USA.
