DESCRIPTION

Fjällräven's Greenland Jacket, an outdoor classic from 1968 that was developed in collaboration with members from the 1966 Greenland expedition. The original was made of tent material that was too heavy for lightweight tents. The result was an extremely durable jacket that was much appreciated by mountaineers. It didn't take long for it to gain popularity for general use in forests and fields where it demonstrated rare durability.

Today, many of the earlier versions have been passed to younger generations. Made of hardwearing and adaptable G-1000® fabric, it has extra reinforcement over the shoulders and yoke. Two-way zipper with poppers in the front and at the sleeve cuffs. Spacious chest and hip pockets for all your gear - the hip pockets are exactly the right size for a sandwich! Hand warmer pockets hidden behind the hip pockets. Secure inside pocket with zip. Snugly fitting hood.

The G1000 fabric is waxed when you buy it, you cam purchase Greenland Wax to increase the water repellence of the fabric. This should also be added after washing. We will wax your jacket for free in our London store.

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS

The story behind Fjällräven began in 1950 when Åke Nordin, a 14-year-old boy from Örnsköldsvik in Northern Sweden, was about to go for a trek in the mountains. Åke, who spent more time outdoors than indoors, did not like the backpacks that were available at that time. He decided to take matters into his own hands and built a wooden pack frame. To this day Fjällräven stays true to Åke's vision of offering functional equipment for journeys in the outdoors. Fjällräven develop environmentally friendly fabrics and co-operate with partners to improve the environment and support biodiversity.
