Kajka 100 - Graphite
Coming Soon £360.00
Fjällräven's Kajka 100 is an advanced trekking pack loaded with features making it durable, comfortable and highly functional despite its modest and classic appearance.
"Wood is a fantastic material from a purely functional perspective, and also reduces the frame’s environmental impact to less than a tenth of that of aluminium – without compromising on strength and without adding weight."
|Fjällraven's Head of Innovation and design, Henrik Andersson|
The functions of the Kajka have been updated and fine-tuned and include an innovative unique wooden frame that combines strength and support with low environmental impact. Perfect Fit Adjustment System ensures easy control of support to suit a wide range of body sizes, adjusting to both back length and shoulder width, whilst the support system evenly distributes even extremely heavy loads with a generous hip belt with zippered pockets to increase carrying comfort on long hiking days. The main compartment loads from the top with an additional snow lock, whilst an opening at the bottom and a large vertical opening in front allow quick access to the contents. Easily dividable into upper and lower sections, the lower of which features Wet/Dry compartments to keep dirty damp gear separate.
Practical zip up pockets on the top lid and sides for the quick access items, whilst the top cover is removable and can be worn on the chest or waist when you want to keep valuables in sight. Two small poles and side compression straps either side of the bag allow for effective and even compression whilst keeping side pocket openings clear. The top cover and bottom of the pack have attachment points, a whistle completes the chest strap and the included rain cover has reflectors. Regularly praised by hikers the world over, Fjällraven's Kajka 100 is the perfect companion on long distance treks and extended adventures!
|The Kajka was awarded 2009 Product of the Year by Swedish outdoor magazine, Utemagasinet, and Best in Test by Finnish magazine, Retkis in their 2011 large backpack test.|

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
The story behind Fjällräven began in 1950 when Åke Nordin, a 14-year-old boy from Örnsköldsvik in Northern Sweden, was about to go for a trek in the mountains. Åke, who spent more time outdoors than indoors, did not like the backpacks that were available at that time. He decided to take matters into his own hands and built a wooden frame.
This backpack frame was the start of Åke's company, Fjällräven, in 1960. The name Fjällräven means Arctic Fox in Swedish and the name is in honour of the small predator which lives in the Swedish mountains in the harshest of climates.
