DESCRIPTION

Beautiful, napped and whipstitch bound Pendleton Blanket. Made in their American mill.

From Pendleton: “Glacier was the first national park honored with a Pendleton blanket in the early 1900s. This special edition was woven to celebrate the park?s 100th anniversary, and features our original blanket's iconic stripes along with traditional park icons. Like the first Glacier Park Blanket, this centennial edition is woven in our Pendleton, Oregon mill.

It reverses for a dramatically different look of white on black. And it's woven in the twin/robe size preferred by Native Americans for ceremonial purposes. It makes an impressive wall hanging and wonderful gift for collectors or National Parks fan. Corner patch was inspired by a 1920s Glacier Park window decal.”

    PROVENANCE AND ETHICS

Pendleton's family history in Oregon dates back to 1863 when Thomas Kay, a young English weaver opened his own mill in Salem, Oregon. In 1909 Thomas's three grandsons, Clarence Morton Bishop, Royal Thomas Bishop, and Robert Chauncey Bishop opened Pendleton Woolen Mills. Six generations later Pendleton Woolen Mills is still run in Oregon by the Bishop family.
