DESCRIPTION

The Black Hole Micro MLC joins Patagonia's travel-savvy MLC series - packed with technical features for easy organisation on quick trips. Designed for the strictest travel requirements and under-seat spaces, this soft-sided convertible backpack can be carried three ways and is made with recycled materials that brush off light weather and scuffs.

Built with recycled materials and a recycled TPU-film laminate, the Micro MLC is sized specifically to meet the tighter under-seat carry-on requirements of most airline carriers (always check before travel). The roomy main compartment is large enough for a few days worth of gear, and with a mesh divider to keep things from spilling when you open the bag.

Dedicated tech storage fits most 15" laptops, with room for documents and cords. The laptop carrier zips open and lies flat for easy airport security compliance. As with the larger MLC range, three carrying configurations allow the bag to be used as a backpack, shoulder bag/cross-body bag or a briefcase and the wide webbing loop on the back panel that can be used as a grab handle or slipped over rolling luggage. External lash points accommodate even more gear and can be used for other carrying configurations.

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS

Patagonia was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973, the company's roots are in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now produce a diverse mix of apparel targeted towards skiers, snowboarders, surfers and climbers. Patagonia are a world leader in creating ethical, sustainable clothing.

Recycled Polyester: Polyester is a naturally water-repellent material that can withstand the elements. Using polyester fibre made from mechanically recycled plastic bottles reduces CO2 emissions, and Patagonia are working toward eliminating all virgin polyester in their products by 2025.

Recycled TPU: Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a crucial part of what makes Patagonia's Black Hole® products so durable. This laminate coating creates a material that’s extremely weather-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Now made with recycled TPU - a change that decreases carbon emissions from manufacturing by 91% per. Kg compared to virgin TPU.

Recycled Nylon: Nylon is one of the strongest materials used in clothing and gear. Using recycled nylon, Patagonia decrease their dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material and reduce discarded fabric.

Made without PFCs / PFAS: For decades, the coatings used in apparel to improve water-repellency have relied on per- or polyfluorinated chemicals, which contain fluorine. This class of forever chemicals accumulates in air, water, food, even our bodies, and they raise serious health concerns. Patagonia re moving away from PFCs, and now 92% of their materials with water-repellent chemistries are made without them - reducing their impact on the health of people and the planet.

Fair Trade: Patagonia now use more than 20 Fair Trade factories that specialise in the production of outdoor clothing, paying a premium for every Patagonia item that is made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory. They actively encourage other brands that do business in those factories to join them in the Fair Trade movement, ensuring living wages within the supply chain.
