DESCRIPTION
For committing climbs that require rugged insulation, the Durable Down Parka from Patagonia is a lofty and warm 800-fill-power down belay jacket with a two-way zipper that won’t get shredded by rock abrasion.
Using materials found in their Workwear gear, it’s tough enough to withstand the burliest pitches yet light enough to haul up the longest routes. This parka is part of the Free Wall Kit - designed to meet the demands of Patagonia ambassadors’ evolving tactics for modern rock climbing objectives, the Free Wall Kit is made for sustained, difficult multipitch routes where even the smallest rest recovers just enough energy for the send. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.
This Fair Trade Certified™ parka pairs 800-fill-power down with an ultra-durable 98% recycled nylon Ultra-PE ripstop shell built to resist severe wall abrasion. Featuring discontinuous quilting, broad shoulders, a helmet-compatible hood, and a quiet, packable lining that stows right into its own zippered handwarmer pocket. Thoughtful alpine details - including a two-way belay-compatible zipper with double storm flaps, dual interior mesh stash pockets, and a rear neck clip loop - deliver complete weather protection and function.

PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Patagonia was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973, the company's roots are in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now produce a diverse mix of apparel targeted towards skiers, snowboarders, surfers and climbers. Patagonia are a world leader in creating ethical, sustainable clothing.
Recycled Polyester: Polyester is a naturally water-repellent material that can withstand the elements. Using polyester fibre made from mechanically recycled plastic bottles reduces CO2 emissions.
Recycled Down: Diverted from landfill, the use of recycled down reduces waste and reintroduces used down into the insulation market. Reclaimed from cushions, bedding and other used items that can’t be resold — all things that add to our growing landfills. By plucking down from the trash, Patagonia reduce waste and contribute to the down-recycling stream.
Fair Trade: Patagonia now use more than 20 Fair Trade factories that specialise in the production of outdoor clothing, paying a premium for every Patagonia item that is made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory. They actively encourage other brands that do business in those factories to join them in the Fair Trade movement, ensuring living wages within the supply chain.
