PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Patagonia was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973, the company's roots are in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now produce a diverse mix of apparel targeted towards skiers, snowboarders, surfers and climbers. Patagonia are a world leader in creating ethical, sustainable clothing.
Responsible Down Standard: Down is feathers and clusters made from the soft under plumage of geese or ducks. To enforce robust quality-of-life requirements for the birds who supply these feathers, and especially to help protect against force-feeding and live-plucking, the virgin down that Patagonia uses is traced from parent farm to final fiber processing facility, protecting the birds under the Responsible Down Standard. Patagonia have been at the forefront of ethical down sourcing for decades now, working with environmental charities, farms and the outdoor industry and pushing for stricter animal welfare with their own Advanced Global Traceable Down Standard.
